During the weekend I had this brainwave (similar to an exercise I carried out with my Y5-Y6 class at EPS) to support the work we have been doing around SMARTS. Using nine A4 bordered sheets I headed up the different SMARTS on each one. I then made small name labels (students names in text boxes), placed these onto 3 different coloured post-it notes and laminated both the sheets and name labels.
It was interesting to know that e-Learners enjoyed being about to place down their THREE preferred SMARTS and see where other e-Learners placed themselves. As they say 'the proof is in the pudding' as e-Learners were able to articulate what the 'people characteristsics' of each SMART actually are.
I was fascinated to learn that my 10 Switch On's are simialr to those of others in our Team. Having a glass of water or getting out for a breath of fresh air are just TWO switch on's that works for me. Check out my wordle (under the Term 1, 2010 tab) for the other 'eight'.
I also decided it might be nice to have e-Learners code and rate where they thought the tasks of activities we have covered thus far can be placed on the Inquiry Learning tackle box. Students were directed into three groups, discussed the tasks at hand and placed tasks on the inquiry learning tackle box accordingly. We then engaged in a whole class discussion about their findings. Mr More was also invited in to listen to what students thought about the tacklebox. It was very interesting to hear e-Learners speak about and identify stages of the tackle box frequently being used in their home classrooms.
Today students started the planning process for voicethread and podcasting. They will be back with their own cameras ready to make and create. I am so looking forward to what they produce and our open day as well:) A very productive and adventurous day had by all:)
